Another Holiday, Another Quirky Jamestown Parade
Every Fourth of July, the North End of Conanicut Island hots its own parade. Consisting of the Jamestown Marching Band, a Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department fire truck, two backhoes, a couple of antique fire trucks, a few cars, and a whole bunch of gussied up yard tractors, this parade stretches along about half a mile of East Shore Drive, turns around, and goes back along the same route. Brief, simple, and a whole lot of fun.
